Ken Peters creative director
"Ken has a vivid imagination and he’s not afraid to use it.” So read the teacher’s note on Ken’s fourth-grade report card. Proof, perhaps, that from an early age an excited spirit of unconventional creativity and curiosity was already brewing.
Some years later, Ken parlayed those traits into a Bachelor of Fine Art degree in visual communication and design from Arizona State University. Armed with a degree, and unencumbered enthusiasm, he dove into the fast-paced world of design and advertising. After 8 years as Art Director with some of Phoenix’s premiere agencies, Ken took a chance on a dream – and himself – and launched Nocturnal Graphic Design Studio in September of 2003. He hasn’t looked back since.
Through the years Nocturnal has become a respected and sought-after creative partner for brand-savvy professionals in all industries and has been honored as one of Arizona’s ten best graphic design firms by Arizona Business Magazine.
Throughout his award-winning career, Ken has developed brands for clients of all shapes and sizes from high tech to hospitality to healthcare – and everything inbetween. His work has been profiled in Communication Arts, HOW, and Print magazines, and on MSNBC. It has also been showcased in a variety of graphic design “best of” compilations and annuals.
Ken regularly contributes insightful articles to a variety of print and online publications addressing the critical role of graphic design and branding in business. He is also the intrepid author of Nocturnal's think B.I.G. blog, where he challenges marketing-savvy professionals to explore the outer reaches of their creativity and imagination to empower their brands and expand the possibilities of what their businesses can become.
In addition, Ken is the author and illustrator of The Cave Creek Kid, a charming western-themed story book for preschool children. The Cave Creek Kid slings a guitar instead of a gun, and with his trusty horse, Amigo, rides the trail of adventure teaching little cowpokes about the history and culture of the West, as well as lessons of friendship, kindness and honesty. A portion of the proceeds from all sales of The Cave Creek Kid are donated to Scottsdale based Childhelp, for the prevention and treatment of child abuse.
